Portal Feeder 3.0 And Social Media Optimization
The key with social media optimization is to think two dimensional. What do we mean? Simply if you are just going after links then pick your marks carefully.
All social media sites aren’t created equal. There are sites where getting backlinks presents no problems yet there are those where the only reason to use them is to develop your brand.
As an internet marketer, using social media for profits can be rewarding but as we all know, marketing types are usually gunned down in a blaze of gunfire as soon as someone gets a whiff that they are there to peddle their wares.
Hands up if you have never had a web 2 site canceled or suspended? There wouldn’t be too many hands up I bet. But I got to thinking a while ago about the best way to use these web 2 social media sites and at Portal Feeder 3.0″>Portal Feeder 3.0 you have as good a plan as any with the Web 2 Mayhem.
Can you treat a Squidoo lens like a Facebook account? Probably not.
How To Tackle Social Media Optimization
As an internet marketer there are two ways to tackle these sites and really, you need to decide which angle to take. There is the method of branding yourself within a particular niche so if you just work within one subject line like dog training, then you’ll be best served building up your authority and persona within that niche.
If you work within many niches such as an affiliate marketer, then you won’t be too concerned about using branding methods but more about building links to your sites.
Can you see the distinction here? Here’s an example…take network marketing. A successful network marketer is one who has usually risen above the herd and branded themselves rather than their company or product. And the reality is, less than 5% do this which is why there is such a huge failure rate within the industry.
Social media has presented this type of marketer with the ideal vehicle to brand themselves and create a strong trust factor with their prospects. This is where sites like Facebook, My Space and Twitter are gold. Instead of using these sites as a place to deliver a sales pitch, they would instead create friendships and relationships with their followers, answer questions and build their authority.
Then, when the opportunity came to promote something; and because they have built up a persona within their sphere as someone who knows what they are talking about, if the question was asked, which were the top five network marketing companies to consider when looking for an opportunity in this niche, then they could point to one of their resources.
Can you see the difference here between doing the hard sell and being invited to promote?
On the other hand, if your mission was to build authority in your pages and you wanted to rank higher in the search engines so you could get more traffic, then you would be concentrating on link building.
It’s not so much creating relationships but more about displaying your wares - in other words, content. Squidoo is the ideal vehicle for this as is Propeller and Weebly.
